Introduction
I have had my Bustin Hybrid V1 ever since I bought it at the kickstarter in 2018, and I have used it a lot each summer ever since. However, the bolts and bushings have been worn out, and I decided to replace them. The bolts on the battery case were pretty rusted, together with the washer for the busings and some of the hardware for the trucks. Also, the bushings were due for replacement.
Bolts
The bolts for the battery casing are STS ASTM A574 socket head cap screws, which are American and I'm not gonna order regular bolts all the way from america. Instead, I ordered some DIN 912 M5x18 A2 stainless steel bolts. However, I noticed not all bolts on the battery compartment are the same.
- The bolts marked pink are M6x10
- The bolts marked green are M5x14 but will also fit M5x18
- The bolts marked red are M5x18
- The bolts marked blue are M5x14. That's why they aren't changed yet in the picture as I didn't order any. I later changed them to new stainless steel M5x14 ones.
I also noticed the epoxy had come a little loose where the motor wires meet the back truck, so I added some industrial glue to keep them in place and prevent water/dirt from entering.
Bushings
I ordered some Venom 92A downhill bushings and some Mindless 94A juju bushings, because I wasn't yet sure on how hard I wanted the bushings to be. It does go pretty fast and I noticed the bushings lost their rebound a little. the bushings also creaked a lot. Replacing them was exactly the same as replacing the bushings on my other longboards and skateboard, only the motor connector was a bit in the way. It's just long enough to be able to slid the back truck away from the board. Pro tip: put some candle wax shavings in the cup and on the bushings when taking apart your truck to decrease the chance of squeaking:
