I was reading some hackaday, and came across this post about the tildeverse, which is an independent association hosting their own part of the internet. I love seeing things like this, decentralizing the internet and making it the fun and personal space it was how I remembered it (that was like 2007-2010, so I imagine this feeling must be reciprocated even more by people who experienced it in the 90s).
Something I really like that they're hosting is cosmic voyage, which is a tilde community based around a collaborative science-fiction universe. I also still want to make something like that, with different small stories that tie into eachother in some way or another. It's kinda what I try to do with the story blog posts, and in some way with the whole interesting corner.
I've recently noticed more people feel the need for taking back the internet, moving it away from the big corporation-ruled hellscape it is today. With the personal web taking shape more and more, and personal websites, webrings and stuff like that starting to be cool again. It's also one of the reasons why I started the interesting corner: being able to have your own little corner of the WWW.
